Not exactly an answer to your question, but my newest macbook pro has not
been updated by Apple in years to the point of not really being useful for
any software use.

I installed Linux Mint 20 and now it runs the latest and greatest of any
software I want except MacGourmet. I keep an old iMac around for only that
program.

Since the MB Pro is a Core i5 second gen it works great with Mythfrontend
v31.
