I had a similar problem with CIFS mounts to my old OS/2 box.  They
required a "vers=1.0" option to be added (all on one line):

//10.0.2.1/CDRIVE /mnt/inisant/cdrive cifs
soft,nocase,username=*********,password=********,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,vers=1.0
0 0
