That commit gave segfaults for me when running mythcommflag --rebuild or 
mythpreviewgen from a script or the command line.   ISTR that previews 
were generated during the recording process, but perhaps not for all 
formats.   That issue was fixed very quickly - 2 commits later. 
bdfb7690ba5 is good for me.
