That is reassuring Ian, thank you. But I sure hope someone has done this
and can tell me if it works for sure. I have been Googling this and there
are so many opinions such as the DontZap fixes listed followed by other
ways of doing this none of which seem to be on my system. There is one
that suggests adding setxkbmap -option terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp through the
Applications Autostart of the gui. But the poster said it should just be a
checkbox and it wasn't so I am not inclined to add it manually without
confirmation from someone here.

I got some auto-upload of some error log and then a Chrome window opened
asking me to login to an account I don't have after trying the other
suggestion this morning. Or maybe it was unrelated and a result of some
other problem. But this is the reason I really hate trying things. I have
destroyed half a day on occasion trying something I found on the web or
suggestions that are not for my exact configuration.

If I don't get a reply from someone who has enabled CTRL-Alt-Backspace with
a Mythbuntu-18 system I will try what I posted as you are suggesting.

Why they decided to delete this functionality is beyond stupid.
