Thanks Greg, most helpful. I do indeed see a difference in fast
forwarding and reversing behaviour between videos and recordings, and I
understand that the seek table would make a difference.

However when I try and create one for one of my videos this is what happens:

$ mythcommflag --rebuild --video /mnt/disk5/mythtv/videos/G-H-I-J/Game\
of\ Thrones/Season6/Game\ Of\ Thrones\ S6X2.m4v
2019-12-29 15:23:42.672813 C  mythcommflag version:  [v29.1] www.mythtv.org
2019-12-29 15:23:42.672825 C  Qt version: compile: 5.5.1, runtime: 5.5.1
MythTV Commercial Flagger, building seek table for:
    /mnt/disk5/mythtv/videos/G-H-I-J/Game of Thrones/Season6/Game Of
Thrones S6X2.m4v
Rebuild started at Sun Dec 29 15:23:43 2019
No I-frames found, rewinding...
Rebuild completed at Sun Dec 29 15:25:19 2019
2019-12-29 15:25:19.148333 E  decoding error
			eno: Unknown error 541478725 (541478725)

The result is that the FF/reversing behaviour is still sub-optimal with
the video in question.

Cheers, Jan
