And here's an update. After installing the proper firmware
(firmware-amd-graphics)
# lshw -C video

The second one (Intel built-in graphics) is what I'm using for the main
desktop, and it works great with 2 screens. But I can't see the
additional screen plugged into the VGA output of the Radeon card. The
screen says "No signal" and goes to sleep.

So the X server is also aware of it, but it's still not accessible. The
System Settings -> Display and Monitor only see the 2 displays connected
to the built-in graphics. I'm hesitant to add an xorg.conf file since
X is able to do just about everything automagically and I don't want to
mess up the primary displays, which work perfectly. Is there some
command that will wake up the displays connected to the radeon card and
make them known to X/KDE and ultimately mythtv?
Xrandr only sees the built-in video:
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 3840 x 1080, maximum 8192 x 8192
VGA-1 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 510mm x 287mm

So attempting anything with VGA-1-1 (as displayed in Xorg.0.log) fails.
I have been unable to discover what the XID is that would be acceptable
to xrandr or other software to access this 3rd display. Hints or
solutions? anyone? Thanks.
Augustine
