If this is from the packaging repo, those scripts/files
for rpm based distros have not been updated for years,
and are likely very stale with current versions and
file layouts.

There are a couple of different packagings and spec
files floating around that do things differently (not
necessarily better, just different) that you might want
to look at if you want to do your own development
rather than using one of the more customary repos
such as rpmfusion (where one of the set of alternative
spec files is available).

I am of the opinion that at this point either someone
has to take ownership to maintain those rpm packagings
in the MythTV packaging repo (perhaps even you) or
the files should be deleted to avoid confusion.  At the
very least, an additional README that says
"BROKEN_DO_NOT_USE".
