I have done a Linux Mint 18 to 19 which is essentially a Ubuntu 16.04.5 to 18.04.1 on the underlying system, in place and all went well. No issues encountered, just remember to reenable the mythtv ppa respository afterwards to ensure you keep getting Mythtv updates.
