I used that remote I linked to for an Odroid C2 running Android. I was
using that for a while and then put Arch Linux on it and haven't used the
remote in a few weeks. I'm anxious to know about the Mythtv Android
frontend as the C2 is a very capable machine, much faster than even the Pi
3B+. And they're pretty cheap, too. No Bluetooth or WiFi support, but
there is an IR receiver and much more capable Gigabit Ethernet than the Pi
3B+'s 300Mbps. But I digress.

When I travel, I bring the Pi3 along as a backup device for watching media
(along with a Fire TV stick which usually works for Plex or Kodi). It's
pretty much overkill but I have an electronics addiction.

The Smart Hub remote sounds great. I only have a few devices but one is a
Fire TV and I can't control that with my basic Harmony remote. It would be
nice to incorporate that as well.

Bluetooth would be great to get rid of that line of sight limitation with
IR. I have to be careful where I'm pointing my remote or I'll miss the
stereo receiver.

Do you have a repeater for other devices like your cable and satellite box
or are they Bluetooth as well?
