   Newer versions produce jerky playback

Is this still the case? There are three later releases in the six months following raspbian-2017-12-01
	raspbian-2018-03-14
	raspbian-2018-04-19
	raspbian-2018-06-29

If so, which component is responsible for the lower performance?
