Thanks for your input, Mark. I've looked into that option in the past and 
the stream I'm currently recording is available in hls. But, since parts 
of the URL change in unpredictable and apparently arbitrary ways, I don't 
think I'll be able to implement that solution. Perhaps more details 
forthcoming about the original stream.
