Did you also try swapping the sata cables for the drives as Mike mentioned above?
The syslog definitely shows a big problem with the hard drive.
Something is really screwy in your logs regarding ata failed commands. Rather than a bad hard drive, you could have a bad sata controller or motherboard. This is going to be a hardware trouble shooting job.
There is no problem here with mythtv.
