First thing to try would be to check that the SATA data cable and power
lead are plugged in securely.

If they both look ok, try swapping them for another. Looks to me like an
issue with the sata data cable.

What does smartctl say about the drive?

smartctl -a /dev/sdc

You will need to run this as root, or sudo it.
