[mythtv-users] some channels only play audio, video is dark gray screen

Hello all,

I recently switched over to using XMLTV / SD as my guide source (using 
https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/XMLTV as my "guide").  I was using DD / SD previously.

Unfortunately I must have done something wrong because the recordings for some of the channels now 
play only the audio in mythfrontend.  The video only comes up as a dark gray screen.  NBC (I think 
the show is 1080i) is one of the failing channels and the CW (I think the show is 720p) is another.

Recordings from other channels using those same boxes (OTA and cable) playback fine.  And, old 
recordings from those channels still play as expected.

This happens whether I record those channels using OTA as a source (HDHR-4us) or cable as a source 
(HDHR-3cc with a cable card).

The recorded files are of normal size.

And weirdly enough, mplayer will play the files fine - both audio and video.

But, VLC does not play the files; it spits out "Invalid frame dimensions 0x0".  (I compiled VLC a 
couple of days ago to help debug this.)

Any ideas as to what I did wrong?
