I suspect (but it is mostly a WAG) that it is related to ticket #13263
and the new (and improved!) vector validation with gcc8 (libstdc++).

I'll look at the audio stuff at some point in the future if no one else
looks at it first (FD: I hope someone else will look at it first!).
