To minimize power usage, I have my Mythbuntu computer set to
automatically wake up for recordings and then shut down after to
conserve power.

If I want to watch TV when no recordings are in progress then I have the
extra step of turning on the computer.

I wrote an article on this if you are curious.  The article covers
Mythbuntu 12.04 and 14.04, but the concepts should also apply to newer
