I hope that's just your opinion and not the actual direction.  Kodi, for 
example, should be a poster child example of horrendous UX design.  I 
can't believe people actually like to use crap like that.  Myth's 
frontend still has great features (it shows how far ahead of the curve 
it was 10 years ago) while maintaining a simple, intuitive interface 
actually designed for a 10ft tv experience.  It might not be the 
prettiest looking thing out there, but it's still one of the most 
functional.

I'm guessing the ffmpg patches make keeping in sync a bit of a pain 
along with some other legacy cruft and finding people interested in 
refactoring those parts of the code base is troublesome in today's world 
where the younger generation just streams everything.
