Hi,

I recently upgraded to MythTV 29 and mostly it’s worked fine, but one issue that I have is some of my videos (not recordings) don’t play any more. There is a black “Please wait” screen then it goes back to the menu with a “Could not open decoder” error message. I’ve included the relevant log lines from the frontend below.

2018-03-10 22:03:05.805560 I  TV::TV(): Creating TV object

2018-03-10 22:03:07.793259 C  TV::StartPlayer(): Failed to create player.

It seems to be saying that the file is invalid, but it plays correctly other players, and MythTV 0.28. Is anyone aware of any changes that might have caused this? Is there anything I can do to get these files to play? I was considering reencoding them, but I’d rather not reencode already encoded files.

Thanks is advance for any help,
Andrew
