[mythtv-users] ir-kbd-i2c must be manually loaded or set to autoload in Fedora 27?

Hello all,

This is not a myth-specific issue, but definitely affected a major
component of my mythsystem (my remote) and I wanted to give others a
heads-up in case it may affect them as well (or maybe I am missing
something and someone can explain what).

I upgraded my combined frontend/backend. I realized Fedora 24 was very
much EOL and wanted to be able to get current update, so I updated my
system from 24->25->26->27 incrementally using dnf.

Most everything went well except for a few minor glitches that I will need
to look into. But the biggest issue occured when I jumped from 26->27. My
IR receiver driver no longer autoloaded on startup making my remote
unusable. It took me quite some time to figure out it was a driver loading
(or lack of) issue. Once I did "modprobe ir-kbd-i2c hauppague=1" command,
I was pretty much back up and running. I had to create a file in called
"ir-kbd-i2c.conf" in /etc/modules-load.d/ to autoload the driver on startup
and reboot and everything seems to work.

I though that this driver was built into the kernel a long time ago (like
5-10 years ago). Is it no longer in the kernel? Am I missing something
else?

Just wanted to share because I am sure I am not the only one using a fedora
system and still relying on a hauppague card for an ir receiver (which is
literally the only function my PVR350 has these days).
