Thanks Doug.  And I tried enabling DB access on the F28 test backend, 
which has been driving the firestick, from the main frontend, and a DVD 
iso played.

So the problem does appear to be in the firestick package, I'm afraid. 
Not urgent for me, but it would be good to have it fixed.
