My company's product ships on RHEL (CentOS), so I have used Fedora since I
started there (switched from Gentoo) just so I can get used to what is
coming down the pipe from RedHat in EL.  I always do bare metal installs
and put data back as well ( I just really do not like library bloat (never
have).  My home directory has always been a separate partition and I always
back up /etc and databases, but everything else goes..

Just my $.02
