I have the same hardware and the mesa-vdpau package, f26 and a recent 
master, v30-pre-579.  I saw a similar lockup for the first time 
yesterday - only the mouse cursor would move, but it had no other response.

But I was playing an HD h264 file segment created during experiments 
with ffmpeg - so assumed that was the cause.  I'll keep a lookout.
