Thought maybe I should be a bit more specific...

After verifying which PHP config file to use, it's worth trying 
something very big--like 128000 or even 256000--and seeing if it works.  
If so, then you can try lower numbers to see how low you can bring it 
(64000, 32000, ...) and still make use of the page.  Or, just edit the 
channels, then change it back to 1000 when you're done.  It it doesn't 
work, you can try even larger values (though I can't imagine having that 
many channels in the DB--and, really, if you do, you should think of 
editing your listings provider configuration so you're not constantly 
pulling down that much listings data that you won't even need and that 
will just make your database bigger and slow things down in MythTV).

FWIW, I think the page uses on the order of 16 x <# of channels> + <a 
few> input fields.  So, 16000 supports about 1000 channels, 128000 
supports 8000, 256000 supports 16000, and so on.
