I've written something similar but mine is probably more rough than
yours.

Unforunately, mythtv-status, which yours uses doesn't seem to support
IPv6:

DBI connect('database=mythconverg:host=fd31:aeb1:48df:0:214:d1ff:fe13:52fb;port=3306','mythtv',...) failed: Unknown MySQL server host 'fd31' (2) at /usr/share/perl5/MythTV.pm line 371.

I suppose ultimately it's libmythtv-perl that doesn't support IPv6.
