Bah:  I made my draft reply more specific and broke it.

On my system the Droid entries in /usr/share/mythtv/fonts were symlinks 
with no targets - ie, 0 bytes.  I copied the files extracted from a 
mythtv tarball into their target locations.  Paul H gave the full git 
address if you prefer that.
