Just wanted to send a quick message to let you know--since it's not easy
to determine due to the author's deception--that the zap2xml program
(and the mc2xml program) is unsupported and its use is in violation of
Zap2It's (owned by Gracenote) terms of use and copyright. Both programs
have been available from a variety of different domains over the years
as one domain gets shut down (for promoting copyright infringement) and
the author moves to another.
The only listings sources for North American users that are not in
violation of terms of use/copyright are EIT (over-the-air broadcast
listings on digital TV) and Schedules Direct (
http://schedulesdirect.org/ --when used by an approved open-source
program, http://www.schedulesdirect.org/approvedsoftware , such as
MythTV). I'm mentioning this to you since most users of the programs do
so without any knowledge that they're violating the ToU/copyright. That
is actually the worst part of those programs' existence--they encourage
users to unknowingly do things in violation of terms/copyright and, in
many cases, prevent them from finding the approved solutions.
Mike
