OK, thanks for being patient with the interruption here.

Continuing with this (the above suggestion) -- didn't make any
difference. Have one source, 'Antenna' so just the one screen to enter
the usenrname and password for SchedulesDirect. This time got brave and
clicked <Finish> - - the "pc:52722" field had repopulated itself when I
went back in to check. Unfortunately mythfilldatabase is still
myth-not-filling-the-database. (I know: don't give up my day job to
become a comedy writer. <g>)
Did notice if I do mythtv-setup at Terminal, open 2. Capture Cards,
select a card (such as [ DVB : /dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0 ] the next
screen lists:
DVD device: /dev/dbv/adapter0/frontend0
Frontend ID: Could not get card info for card
/dev/dvb/adaper0/frontend0 Subtype: Unknown error
I think this is a 'normal error' after configuration as seem to remember
reading about this problem about a year ago. The cards are being found
and recordings are occurring, and yes, I am sort of grasping at straws
to try to give some clues.
OK, another WAG. From the above test:
At terminal: mythtv-setup
mysql: [Warning} Using a password on the command line interface can
be insecure.
status: Name "com.ubuntu.Upstart" does not exist
Gtk-message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is
discouraged.
Gtk-message: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is
discouraged. <-- repeated
...OK: the 'mysql' and 'status' lines are displayed and then the GUI for
card configuration appears (with the overlay about the backend is running).
..TIA!
Barry
