Thanks Mark. It's been a while since I looked at the Merlin firmware.
When I did my conclusion was that it is a slightly feature-enriched
version of the stock firmware, but that in respect of security updates
it still relies on Asus. So from the security perspective Merlin is
slightly worse, because you need to wait first for Asus to issue the
update and then for Merlin to roll that update into its own version.
