[mythtv-users] Remote control. IRW strange behavior after making conf with irrecord? Alternating results.

I suggest try moving closer to the receiver. Although the remote works 
perfectly well from across the room in normal use, I found that while 
recording with irrecord it helped greatly to position the remote as 
close as possible to the receiver (like 1 inch away).
