[mythtv-users] VAAPI on N3150 and video offset with black bars

I'm running a Gigabyte BRIX with an Intel N3150 as a new MythTV frontend.

With VAAPI enabled I get great playback providing i force the frame rate
to match the video.

If I follow the https://www.mythtv.org/wiki/User_Manual:JudderFree guide
to enable FPS switching the video playback is offset by approx 240 pixels
from the top of the screen.

Environment
 - Ubuntu 16.04.1
 - MythTV 0.28 (0.28.0+fixes.201612)

Anyone else seeing this with VAAPI and have suggestions for a work around?

I've tried setting a forced EDID file on the xorg.conf but that results in
the user failing to login.
