I agree & never browse the forum.

However most email clients handle Newsfeeds.
Set up one subscribed to https://forum.mythtv.org/feed.php and your 
email client will automatically pick up all new forum posts. I get about 
50/week atm.

They're not threaded but each post contains a hyper-link to the forum 
thread webpage so it's no effort to monitor.
