Thanks, Paul.  Do you know if the 'depends' looks for
packages-installed, or files in certain locations (and perhaps with
certain contents)?

 It only seems to be available as part of the big bundle of all the
plugins.  I compared the RPi against my main frontend box which is
running mythbuntu, and I didn't see any bright red flags, but then
again I don't really know what to look at for

The only difference I can see is the package-manager related files at
the end of the "works" section.   Still poking around, but my lack of
knowledge about how this all ties together is making things difficult!
