While not really an answer to the question, there are IR -> RF -> IR
converters out there (amazon for IR wireless repeater will bring some up).
That is what I do, and has the advantage it repeats all IR signals, so if you
have other devices you want to control remotely (receiver, roku, whatever), it
can take care of those. Some of the different repeaters vary in number of
emitters they have.
A quick search of 'wireless mce remote' didn't return anything promising. I
remember way back when, the ATI wonder capture came with a wireless remote
(predating MCE), but someone had written the drivers so linux could use the
receiver it came with it. MCE simplifies a lot of things in that pretty much
any MCE remote works, but as noted, it is limited to IR.
