The answer is "it depends".  OFDM is more robust with
dynamic multipath, but less resistant to impulse and
phase noise.

There are a number of academic and industry papers
that compare/contrast the modulation schemes.

Since most people do not have a highly accurate
model of their RF environment (and can't control the
grown of vegetation or the planned construction of
remotely located 30 story reflectors), the usual
answer when the question is asked is "You will
know it when you see it".

Yes, I know that is mostly unhelpful except to the
EE's and Physicists (who are now off reading the
papers).
