I encountered this problem after doing a double Ubuntu upgrade to
16.04 recently. The workaround (editing /etc/mysql/conf.d/mythtv.cnf)
seems to work. By the looks of it, this will be fixed in MythTV
0.28.1; I'm waiting to see if that version appears in 16.04:
