Yes, it is a bug in Mythbuntu Control Center, but you probably do need
the tweaks in that file, so it would be better to fix the table_cache
option.  These days, it should read:

  table_open_cache = 128

The table_cache spelling of this option was accepted in mysql versions
long after the official change of spelling, but MCC never caught up
with that and in 16.04 the new mysql version finally stopped accepting
the old spelling.  I would recommend to anyone reading this post who
is still using the table_cache option in older versions of Mythbuntu
to change it now so they do not get caught out when they upgrade.
