So as not to confuse things any more than they already are, I would
like to just correct the above.  The :: address is the IPv6 default
route address (an address of all zeros).  It is normally written as
::/0, as it has zeroes in all its netmask bits, indicating that none
of the address bits are actually used.  The IPv6 localhost (loopback)
address is actually ::1 (an address of all zeroes except for a 1 in
the least significant bit).  It is a full IPv6 address - all the bits
in the address are used, so it is normally written as ::1/128 (all 128
netmask bits are ones).
