I also had problems with overscan not being honoured (old lcd from around 
2003, 1368x768). 

Including the 
overscan_scale=1
option in config.txt corrected that. 

Now my frontend 
(using Curtis Gedak's mythtv-v0.27.6-69-g41a2a8d-RPI2-jessie.tar.bz2 with and 
eglfs) works just fine.
