no, i boot into cli:

     sudo startx&
     export DISPLAY=':0.0'
     sudo xhost +
     /usr/bin/mythfrontend

setup wiz->audio: all devices give digi-noise on speakertest, except openmax 
which is silent...sound does work in livetv on most channels but not all: 1 
local pbs plays perfectly, but local cbs&nbc have some dropouts, local news 
channel and the other local pbs station are  silent

tv->watch tv runs smoothly, including sound (on some channels) but the preview 
window is offset, with the lower right corner placed @ the center of the target 
box (see attached)

and fullscreen is offset up&left (see 2nd attachment) but not as 
much(proportionally) as the preview window...hmm, but about the same 
displacement -x,-y, as i've set the overscan_ params to in /boot/config.txt, 
required to get everything completely onscreen.

i also need to work on lirc...my vrc-1100 is only partially working
