Thanks Peter for this suggestion.  I haven't played with these settings
before so it will be interesting to learn how they work.

Ah, my mistake.  I had assumed ATSC subtitles were now working.  These
would be nice-to-have, but are not critical.  More important to me is
smooth video with clear sound.
