Remember that 0.28/fixes isn't a version--it's a branch with a ton of 
different versions.  Just because you're both on the same branch doesn't 
mean you've both updated to the same version.

If you want to investigate the "went back to fixes/0.28 and...it is 
working as it used to," you guys need to look at your:

mythbackend --version

output to see if perhaps one of you is on a newer version of 0.28-fixes.
