First, please do not top post.  It is not in keeping the

The answer is options, options, options.  There is
no *right* answer in isolation, as it depends on
the specifics of ones goals and needs.  In Unix in
general, and MythTV exemplifies this, there are
many ways to get the job done.  You chose the
one that works for you for your environment.
