There is another 'simple' solution... use another remote. Most
receivers on Linux can work with any remote as long as it understand
the type of encoding (RC5, RC6, MCE, etc.). It only means you have to
configure Lirc again for the new remote.

I use all kind of old remotes from tv's, stereos etc.
