[mythtv-users] resolving remote conflicts: what are the options?

I was presented recently with what was to me--though surely not for
others--a novel situation: a remote conflict. Since I couldn't get my
monitor--one that's been for some time happily displaying content from my
MythTV box--working with an Android STB/MSB (media streaming box) I
recently acquired, I ended up buying a used LCD TV ($50, since the sound
was not working) to use with my MythTV and STB/MSB systems.
I'd had no remote conflicts previously because I'd been interfacing with
MythTV, during all the years I've been using it, via a keyboard of one
sort or another. Now, however, I discovered that the TV and STB/MSB
remotes were interfering with each other. I gathered from a bit of
research that this was not an easily resolvable situation, so I began
considering what sorts of alternatives I'd have.
What I resolved on doing was running everything through the Kodi installed
on the STB/MSB, interfacing with it via a Kodi phone/tablet app (in
conjunction, of course, with the appropriate Kodi PVR add-on). I just set
that up today and need to do further testing, but it looks like this
solution should work well for me.
Still, I've been wondering: are there other alternatives? It seemed like
this would be a good place to ask that sort of question.
