+1 for Flirc.   I wrestled with remotes, drivers, configurations many times
in the past when I re-built a new frontend.   Each time it had plenty of
oddities and challenges.

Flirc avoids all that stuff.. No Linux config needed, and it will adapt to
your remote.    It’s so much easier and it works with MythTV, Kodi, and
others without more complexities..
In my case I use a Harmony remote which has a Flirc remote setting, so I
didn’t need to imprint my Flirc receiver at all.
