Yes it does. Audio is silent while the popup is displayed.

That would definitely be a good solution - unfortunately not a viable one. Small country, and only one provider. There's no real alternative and they know it.

It used to be possible to use their service with several different STBs; during the last year they declared that only one box was permissible and sent such a box to all subscribers. 

So, no alternative regarding the box either.
