OK, that did the trick.  Now I have a clean compile and a 64-bit binary:

# file 6200ch
6200ch: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically
linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.32,
BuildID[sha1]=f273903ff2bb07abed075984ad301189a06057c7, not stripped
