Just a followup:

It seems like this STB will turn off after a short while if it's not
actively outputting video.  If for some reason it gets tuned to an
unsubscribed channel or something like that and is just putting up a
UI screen telling you that the channel is unavailable, the sleep timer
setting doesn't seem to have an effect and the STB will eventually
shut down.  I realized that's what happened to me on those days where
it shut itself down multiple times in a day.  I had to change the
channel to get it to stay on.  (This is my lowest priority tuner, so
it doesn't get recordings scheduled that frequently.)
