In some jurisdictions, those retail-specific models also
allow the "guaranteed lowest price" advertisements to
survive other establishment competition (since it is a
different model).  This is not unique to TVs. And while
sometimes it is "just" a label difference, sometimes
the differences are slightly more subtle (missing or
adding a (minor?) feature, or including/not including an
accessory, or sometimes simply the coloring of the
item).  Yes, there a many variants out there.

There are entire communities who spend the time
to correlate the different (retail specific) variants to
identify all the differences, but it is a lot of work to
find and follow those discussions if you want to
do the comparisons (often the initial eval is not
complete, so it often requires perseverance to
read the entire discussion).
