Agreed; auto-trim on an SSD with ext4 = your deletes now are slow as
molasses. fstrim at 04:00 or so (unless you have recordings scheduled
then) might work. I tend to run it ~monthly on my own system. YMMV
depending on SSD manufacturer/controller type.

Samsung = very good even without any TRIM;TRIM seems to help
performance, but its still good without it.
Sandforce = over time becomes very bad even with TRIM; must be secure
erased to regain performance
OCZ Barefoot2/3 = good without TRIM and still benefits from it. Im a
happy camper with my Vertex4 / Vector / Arc100s..

I have less experience with other brands/controllers.
